Hey --

Sorry to hear you are running into trouble with the app. We did a ton of testing, and like WordPress, it's an Open Source project, which means you can grab the code and the latest version at any time and let us know if you are seeing issues.

The challenge with this app with respect to people who run their own WordPress, is that no two sites are alike. You are most likely running a combination of plugins on a hosting environment that is also probably tweaked a bit by your hosting provider. Not making excuses, but with nearly 10 million self-hosted WP sites out there, it's tough to test everything :)

In general, the app looks to sync w/ your blog by looking for a specific tag on your home page(RSD), which is a standard thing in WordPress. The RSD then links to your XML-RPC which facilitates the whole interaction between the app and your WordPress site.

When I looked at your RSD tag link yesterday, there was something broken (http://twitter.com/raanan/status/6231398086), as it wasn't returning the proper response: http://blog.tapeandstring.com/xmlrpc.php?rsd .

Today it seems OK, so I'm surprised that you are still having trouble. Did you change something ?

If the app is still not working for you, would be great if you could post a few details on the support forum, and we can help troubleshoot: http://iphone.forums.wordpress.org/ .

When I had my own business and I was doing work for Amgen and WaMu, when confronted with price issues or if I knew I was going to be the highest bid... I would tell the potential client to go to W3C and use their "HTML Validator" to check my competitions URLs for errors and to do the same for my sites. (It was self defense, okay.)

The client would would freak out if they were not tech oriented after seeing error after error and I would play the "my code is W3C compliant and guaranteed to always work card" and your job will be safe withme, but will it be safe with them?

That is the only thing these "rogues" or "wankers" can't compete with on a demonstrable level is Being so thorough that a mystic organization called W3C likes your code better. The client feels safe and it worked for me.

Web developers have finally moved away from targeting a specific browser, there are no longer "Optimized for IE" or "Optimized for Netscape Navigator" stickers all over the web and it is a good thing. Write a website once in standard html/xhtml and css and it's the browsers responsibility to render it correctly. It is not the web developer's responsibility to cater to a specific browser's idiosyncrasies.

Besides, the iPhone was advertised as having the "real web" not a watered down mobile version. Let it read real websites, not watered down iPhone specific ones.
