This book has a spot devoted to it on our coffee table.

Le Garcon Bleu. I think @mullerbrockmann would approve.

Polychrome. From the looks of it, this was the team from Stolen, in Los Angeles—which was/is Thomas Brodahl, a true pioneer within our industry.

Nothing more than a lovely little “g” and “k”. Via Typeneu.

Very cool. A typography resource-style app for the iPhone. Hopefully this is at least somewhat of an in-depth application, and I would also hope it is something that offers true value—and not some re-hash of web-based data that we are all already extremely intimate with. I’ve always felt that graphic design as an industry, is currently quite neglected within the App Store…
Hopefully this starts to change.

Finally decided to rid this blog of the “Swiss” theme I’d been running. “Swiss” is a great Wordpress theme, don’t get me wrong—but I simply could not resist the temptation of Voluptua. This theme really does embody the “new” web (at least visually). Big, bold, striking typography—mixed with a wide, modern user interface, makes this theme something to behold.
I like my themes like I like my women…

The International Typographic Style, also known as the Swiss Style, is a graphic design style developed in Switzerland in the 1950’s that emphasizes cleanliness, readability and objectivity. Hallmarks of the style are asymmetric layouts, use of a grid, sans-serif typefaces like Akzidenz Grotesk, and flush left, ragged right text. The style is also associated with a preference for photography in place of illustrations or drawings. Many of the early International Typographic Style works featured typography as a primary design element in addition to its use in text, and it is for this that the style is named.

Typographica looks like a fantastic (I say that word too much) typography resource. I have yet to dig deep, but from what I have seen thus far, this just might become my “1-stop-shop” for all-things-type on the web (which is what I want—1 great resource, for each topic. Wouldn’t that be great?).
