“The decision for how many design concepts to present to the client is one that can only be made by the designer assigned to the project in the course of the design process, not before. This number is likely one, because if the designer is sufficiently competent there is almost always one best solution to the design challenge.”

The site we developed for Dusty Johnston’s debut album, is finally available on iTunes. Go grab yourself a copy—I guarantee it’s like nothing else you’ve ever heard.

Lovely web presence for a British cabinet-making business. This is how it should be done—and sadly, is almost never…

It looks like Facebook has submitted it’s updated iPhone app to the App Store. Thank god—it can’t come soon enough. Currently it is an app that, let’s face it, sucks.

I am happy to announce that I will now be writing and contributing to Not For Paper. I’d like to thank Robert for the opportunity to share my thoughts and views on the current state of interaction design, new media, technology, and the web in general. Robert (who currently holds a position with Odopod, and runs NFP) seems like a great guy, and we seem to share a similar vision with respect to our industry. I look forward to providing regular content and commentary to an already great blog.

Nike—one of the few elite brands that are often willing to take chances on the web. Praise the lord that they do—without the innovation, guts, and an obvious trust in the design teams that make these web experiences a reality—we’d be served the same tired bullshit, season after season.

If you are going to design and develop a more corporate-and-conservative layout—this should serve as a good example of what TO do. BKWLD didn’t stray from the grid, break-the-mold, or shatter any long-standing design conventions with this release—but what they did do, was serve-up a no-bullshit, to-the-point offering of what the studio does, who they do it for, and what the results look like.
This might appear to be dull and more of the same to many—but I instantly saw the appeal, power, and simplicity. Once again, simple works.
